Falstaff [&] Bardolph
13 x 16 inches
A pair of copper plate etchings published by J. Mortimer in London in 1775 and 1776.
A pair of portraits from Shakespeare's 'Henry IV', published in the second set of 'Six Characters from Shakespeare', drawn and etched by John Hamilton Mortimer. It is highly likely that these prints were drawn and engraved by John Mortimer although they are unattributed. They are highly skilled in their execution and wonderful examples of what can be achieved through etching onto a copper plate.
