Henry Alken [&] Richard Reeve after W. P. Hodges
[Pair of Deer Hunting]
25.5 x 19 inches
A pair of aquatint engravings by Alken and Reeve after Hodges; published in London in 1834.
A very decorative pair of hunting scenes set against spectacular rural landscapes. The images depict a hunt in Dorset chasing (and eventually killing) a roebuck. In the background we can see the imposing façade of Whatcombe House which leads us to assume that this might be the South Dorset Hunt.
