Sayer and Bennett

Pointers and Pheasants.

16.5 x 12.5 inches

A mezzotint engraving in vibrant hand colour; published by Sayer and Bennett in London in 1775.

A delightful Georgian shooting scene in which a young gentleman in smart red jacket and gun half-cocked and his two pointers are in hot pursuit of a bouquet of pheasants. This print was produced for sale in both London and Paris, hence the title also appearing in French (Chiens Darret & Faisans) and was part of a much larger series that people would collect for decoration in the home or estate office.
