In the first plate the gamekeepers are enjoying a picnic under the shade of a tree; one swigging from his hip flask and the other buttering his bread. By the second plate they are returning home clutching their bounty; a pheasant and a hare. Both Charles and George Hunt and Henry Pyall are accomplished engravers of sporting subjects. Samuel John Egbert Jones was an artist best known for his coaching and sporting work who exhibited in London from 1820 until 1845. |
