Taxis: one from a series of "Images of London"
19 x 20 inches
Jan Levy has been working as a professional artist since 1990 specialising in conceptual art using silkscreen painting and a unique layering technique for this process. She is also experienced in conventional and graphic photography which is used to produce contemporary art.
Jan gained a BA Hons from the University of Hertfordshire and now works independently in her own studio.
Commissions are regularly undertaken for public and private sector. For the past 4 years, Jan specialises in graphic manipulation of images using popular culture and imagery relating to London. Photographs are used as a template and every area is reworked graphically in order to give the image a new perspective. Drawing is also undertaken and overlaid on the image. Concept and credence to landmark imagery in London is significant in the work. Many buildings and landmark imagery in London is disappearing and the artistic aim is to give homage to these significant buildings and iconic symbols in a fun, and animated style. The viewer is encouraged to consider the iconic images in a positive light.
