John Dicks after Luke Clennell

The Charge of the Life Guards at the Battle of Waterloo

24 x 17 inches

A chromolithographed plate of this most famous depiction of one of the most decisive moments during the Battle of Waterloo. Published by John Dicks in London circa 1860.

Luke Clennell's masterpiece is one of the most famous images of the Battle of Waterloo fought on the 18th June 1815. This chromolithographed plate comes from much later in the century but testifies to the significance of the action on that day. It depicts a frenzied battle scene with the Life Guards charging the French line. French casualties litter the foreground and a large explosion can be seen towards the rear of the scene.
