Parr Marieschi Venice

R. Parr after Michael Marieschi

A Front View of the Church of Madonna della Salute belonging to the Regulars of the Congregation of Somascha with the Monastry situate on the Grand Canal of Venice.

15.5 x 12 inches

An etching with original hand colour; engraved by Parr after the Italian artist Michael Marieschi and published by Robert Wilkinson in London circa 1790. This delightful view of the church across the Grand Canal is unusual in that it has been embellished with what is called "tinsel decoration", small, jewel like pieces of cut glass that add sparrkle to the print.
